Remove all temporary files located on your computer
Temporary files come from surfing the web and running/installing software programs. They are temporary, but they do amass and sit in the “Temp” folder until emptied. Once they reach a certain size and threshold they do slow your computer down because of the amount of space they steal from your hard drive, which your computer uses as virtual memory. Removing these files including those ones from your web browser should significantly boost your computer in performance and make it much faster.
To do this the quickest and easiest method, use the 1-Scan 1-Click approach of RegCure Pro which includes removing all types of temporary internet files. Otherwise open “My Computer”, and select your local drive (usually C:\). Select the “Windows” folder and then open the folder titled “Temp”.
Delete everything you see in that folder. Don’t forget to empty the recycle bin!
Move files away from your desktop
Most of us can be guilty of this because it is very convenient, but it can really slow down your computer. Everything saved on the desktop are represented by images, and these images, including the desktop background image on the desktop, each chew up a little bit of memory. So you can probably tell by now that if your desktop is cluttered with images then there is quite of bit of resources being taken up here and reduced from the rest of your computer’s requirements. Ensure you only have desktop shortcuts on the desktop and not files. This will ensure you will free up operating memory, making your computer faster to operate and complete its tasks. Keeping your desktop clean is one of the easiest and effective methods of making your computer run faster.
Don’t fill up your hard drive beyond 80%!
Once your computer’s hard drive gets to about 80% capacity (almost full), it would be wise to begin freeing up space by removing programs and applications that you don’t use any longer or transfer some of that data to an external drive or into the cloud. A hard drive at full capacity can also negatively impact the cache and reduce the size of available virtual memory, which often results in your computer significantly slowing down and coming to a crawl. This causes significant slowdown because the computer needs to access both the data stored on the hard drive and the cache partition or virtual memory when installing and running software applications or programs.
Run Disk Clean-up
Windows comes with a built-in tool which can really give your computer a good clean resulting in a boost in speed. The tool looks for unnecessary large files such as program installers, and so on in your computer and removes them, freeing up space. The tool is called “Disk Cleanup”.
To perform this click “Start” then go to All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup
Keep your hard drive fragment free
Long prolonged usage and over time, a computer’s hard disk becomes fragmented with hundreds of files broken up and scattered across the hard disk in many locations across the entire drive. What this does is slow the computer because now it takes longer time for the computer to access information on the hard disk. De-fragmenting can play an important role in making your computer faster. To combat this, the hard disk is de-fragmented to restore its contents in a neat orderly fashion. De-fragmenting assembles files together making them easier to find and thereby minimizing the time to open/load the files to make your computer run faster.
RegCure Pro features the best and quickest hard drive de-fragmentation tool. I highly recommend installing this program and using it to make your computer faster.
Scan and remove any hard disk errors
Hard disk errors greatly reduce computing performance, but the worse thing about them is they don’t show themselves, so you are never aware of them! Make your slow computer run faster is by fixing hard disk errors. These are frequently caused by improper or sudden shutdowns, corrupted software, power cuts, surges and outages, heat, corrupted files and general human error and computer misuse. You can improve the performance of your computer and prevent its slow down by running a hard disk error scanner and removing them.
Use RegCure Pro’s built-in hard disk scanner to scan for errors and correct any issues your hard drive may be facing causing your computer to run slow.
Update all your computer drivers
Always keep up to date with all updates from Microsoft and computer hardware manufacturers. They are constantly finding bugs, issues and in-compatibilities with software and accordingly release driver updates which fix these issues. Updating drivers can definitely improve computer performance as newer drivers have new features, better optimized code, contain bug fixes and are generally more efficient and better performing.
Update your computer’s drivers with the latest provided by your hardware manufacturers. You can download and run DriverCure, which connects to a database of drivers and installs the correct drivers for your computer.
Run an Anti-virus/Spyware/Malware scanner routinely
Malware, Spyware and viruses are one of the most common reasons for computers running slow because these nasty’s just simply chew up most if not all your computer’s resources. This cannot only seriously slow down your computer, but do some damage too! The worst bit is you don’t always know your computer is infected. Run a scanner and see what is lurking. It won’t be surprising to see a huge boost after a successful scan and removal.
Install good performing security software and keep it up-to-date to combat these viruses. I would suggest installing RegCure Pro for its simplicity, effectiveness and ease of usage.
Restart your computer routinely
Lastly, an easy, free and quick way on how to make your computer run faster is to restart (re-boot) your computer at least once per week. What a restart does is, it cleans up all unnecessary background processes and random computing junk which sit and lurk in the background. Most of these chew RAM and other computing resources which in-turn slows your computer down quite significantly.
